About

What kind of things do you like to see when you go travelling?

If you said ancient ruins, castles, museums, or anything in between, you’re in the right place.

I’m Aaron and I’m a travel writer who specialises in historical destinations.

From the pyramids of Egypt, to the ancient cave temples of India, to the Khmer ruins in SEA, I’ve travelled the world visiting the top historical places and I’m here to help you do the same.

How this blog started

Before I travel somewhere new the first thing on my mind is is ‘what are the top historical attractions at this destination and how do I visit them?’.

To find out, I’d turn to the many amazing travel blogs online. But while there are travel blogs for almost any niche you can think of, I found there was a noticeable lack on historical travel destinations.

This is the type of travel blog I wanted to see, but it didn’t exist. So I decided to create it myself.

With a background in digital marketing, combined with years of historically-oriented travel experience, I launched this blog in July 2024.

What to expect

The History Buff’s Travel Guide may be new to the crowded travel blogging scene, but its growing fast.

On The History Buff’s Travel Guide you can expect to find a mix of:

  • Detailed travel guides to historical destinations
  • Lists of the best historical sites at your destination
  • Historical travel inspo to help you decide on your next destination

Honesty and authenticity are very important to me. I only ever write about destinations I’ve personally visited. While this limits my content options, it ensures that what you read on this site stems from first-hand experience.

I also go to great lengths to ensure all the information you read in my articles is accurate, truthful and regularly updated.

Into my content I put all my years of travel experience, countless hours of research, and of course my heart and soul.

Whether you’re a hardcore history nerd like myself, or you’re simply interested in learning a little more about your destination, I hope that you will get some value from The History Buff’s Travel Guide.

Now that you know a thing or two about me, get started by choosing a destination.
